Who can take part
- You are 18 years or older and can sign informed consent
- You have confirmed metastatic or inoperable type 2 or mixed papillary kidney cancer
- You have not had any prior cancer medicines for kidney cancer (no chemo, immunotherapy, or anti-angiogenic drugs)
- Your scans show at least one measurable treatable tumor area
- Your general health is fairly strong (ECOG performance status 0–1)
- Your blood, kidney, and liver tests are within required limits and you do not have significant urine protein
