Sentinel node biopsy for head and neck skin cancer

Who can take part

  • You are 18 years or older
  • You have invasive skin squamous cell cancer on the head or neck (new or coming back)
  • Your cancer appears node-negative on scans (no signs it has spread to nearby lymph nodes or distant areas)
  • You can have general anesthesia for the sentinel lymph node biopsy
  • You can get a CT scan with contrast or an MRI with contrast
  • You can have surgery with sentinel lymph node biopsy within 8 weeks of the scan
