Who can take part
- You need tumor-removal surgery using a translabyrinthine approach (a specific surgical path into the inner ear)
- Your tumor must be larger than 2.5 cm
- Your tumor must be in a location near where the facial nerve is at risk (pontine angle)
- Your hearing tests must show very poor hearing: pure tone levels are at least 50 dB worse and speech understanding is 50% or less
- You must be able to give informed consent and be an adult; the study excludes pregnancy and incarcerated individuals
