Who can take part

  • You are age 18–75 and can take part as either a man or woman
  • You’re able to do daily activities fairly well (ECOG 0–2)
  • You have biopsy-proven oral squamous cell carcinoma in specific mouth areas, and it is stage III or IVA
  • Imaging shows at least one measurable tumor spot (measurable lesion)
  • Your blood counts, liver tests, kidney tests, and blood clotting tests meet study minimums
  • You have not had certain prior treatments (especially radiation to the head/neck) and you have no serious active infection
