Who can take part
- Be over 18 years old.
- Have heart chest pain (stable or unstable angina) or testing that shows reduced blood flow to the heart.
- Be eligible for PCI, a procedure to open blocked heart arteries.
- Have a calcified blockage that does not open enough after balloon stretching at high pressure, and the blockage is about 50–90% narrowed on angiography.
- The blockage must fit treatment limits: it’s not longer than 40 mm, has no blood clot inside, and does not have a prior stent covering the area near the blockage.
