Pentosan for bladder irritation after pelvic radiation

Radiation Cystitis

This trial studies whether pentosan polysulfate sodium can reduce bladder bleeding (hematuria) and urinary symptoms caused by radiation cystitis after pelvic cancer radiation. It may help people who are still having these bladder problems more than 6 months after radiation.

Who can take part

  • You can sign consent and agree to follow study rules
  • You are age 20 or older
  • You had cancer radiation to the pelvic area, and it ended more than 6 months ago
  • You currently have radiation cystitis with lower urinary symptoms or blood in the urine
  • Blood tests must be reasonably normal for liver, kidneys, and blood clotting, and your platelets must be at least 100,000
  • No pregnancy, breastfeeding, or planned pregnancy during the study
