Who can take part

  • You have a diagnosis of hard-to-control epilepsy (refractory epilepsy).
  • Your medical team says you are a good candidate for the brain-monitoring procedure called sEEG.
  • You do not have severe psychiatric problems or uncontrolled severe agitation during a seizure/crisis.
  • You can safely have an MRI (no unsafe implants or metal in the body, and not too uncomfortable in tight spaces).
  • You do not have an ongoing infection, or other serious major health problems that would make brain monitoring unsafe.
  • You are not pregnant or breastfeeding, and you are not taking blood-thinner medicines that affect blood clotting (antithrombotic treatment).
