Who can take part

  • You are 18 years or older with a partial- or full-thickness burn
  • Your burn care team expects you to have surgery (operative treatment) for the burn
  • Your surgery includes tangential excision (cutting away burn tissue at the surface)
  • Enough discarded burn tissue is available for testing (at least 4 grams total)
  • Your burn tissue sample is not only from the genitals/perineum
