Early gabapentin for recovery after spinal cord injury

This trial studies whether starting gabapentin within 5 days after a traumatic spinal cord injury is safe and helpful for early recovery. It will mainly look at feasibility—whether patients can take the medicine and whether it affects early neurologic progress.

  • You have a traumatic spinal cord injury
  • You are 18 years old or older
  • You can start the study medicine within 120 hours (5 days) after the injury
  • You can understand the study and communicate well enough to give consent
  • Your brain injury is not moderate or severe around 5 days after injury
