Who can take part
- Be older than 18 years
- Be hospitalized during the study at Shamir MC or Hadassah Medical Organization
- Have antibiotic treatment started right away for suspected acute sepsis (empirically)
- Not be admitted only from the ER and then discharged home, or transferred out from the ER to another facility
- Antibiotics must be started to treat suspected sepsis—not as part of a planned long-course treatment or routine preventive plan
