Who can take part
- You are at least 18 years old and admitted to the hospital.
- You started one of these IV antibiotics within the last day: Vancomycin, Linezolid, Daptomycin, Clindamycin, Cefazolin, Cloxacillin, Ceftriaxone, Ceftazidime, Piperacillin-Tazobactam, Meropenem, Imipenem, Ertapenem, or Ciprofloxacin.
- Blood cultures were taken within 12 hours before or after starting the antibiotic.
- You are not pregnant or breastfeeding.
- You are not being treated for cystic fibrosis or only receiving antibiotics before or after surgery.
- You are not already in another antibiotic trial and you are not receiving end-of-life care.
