  • You have obesity, usually meaning a body mass index (BMI) of 30 or higher
  • You fit the study’s social support group, based on your income level (lower or higher SES)
  • You can speak and read English well enough to participate
  • You can reliably be reached by phone (cell or landline)
  • You cannot be planning or doing bariatric (weight-loss) surgery or other obesity medications/programs during the study
