Who can take part
- You are a donor in a controlled donation after the heart stops (DCD), specifically Maastricht type III or V
- Age is over 50 and under 75 years
- You do not have cancer, unless it is a non-spread (not metastatic) brain/spinal cord tumor, non-melanoma skin cancer, or a cancer that is fully cured
- No active serious infections are present (for example sepsis, meningitis, HIV, tuberculosis, or certain viral infections)
- There is no history of intravenous drug abuse
- In the NRP group, BMI must be 35 or less, and liver enzyme levels (transaminases) must not be above 1000 or improving before donation
