Who can take part

  • Child is ages 6 to 17, and parent can consent in English (child age 7+ agrees too)
  • Child has a doctor diagnosis of persistent asthma
  • Child had enough recent asthma flare-ups needing oral/systemic steroids (based on a 6- or 12-month window before the next school year)
  • Child shows allergy-related signs: sensitized to outdoor/indoor air allergens (perennial) and meets specific IgE or allergy measures for dosing
  • Child can join during a specific fall visit when they’re currently starting a cold (URI) within 72 hours and meet test/no-new-steroid rules
  • No pregnancy or breastfeeding, and able to follow birth control rules if able to become pregnant
