Self-transfusion to protect bone marrow during cervical cancer treatment

This trial studies whether returning your own blood stem cells back to you (from a processed blood sample) can help protect your bone marrow while you receive chemotherapy and/or radiation for cervical cancer. It may help reduce treatment-related damage to the bone marrow that produces blood cells.

Who can take part

  • You are 18–60 years old and have cervical cancer that needs radiation and chemotherapy
  • Your cervical cancer diagnosis is squamous cancer, adenocarcinoma, or adenosquamous cancer
  • Your overall health is good enough for study visits (ECOG 0–1)
  • You are expected to live more than 3 months
  • If you can get pregnant: you are pre-menopausal and have a negative pregnancy test, and you agree to reliable birth control during the study and for 6 months after
  • You do NOT have certain conditions like bone marrow disease, major metastases to brain/bone, or severe heart problems
