Who can take part

  • You are over 17 years old
  • Before this emergency, your neurologic function was fairly good (Modified Rankin Scale 1–3)
  • The breathing tube is placed during an emergency need in the emergency department, ICU, or hospital floor
  • The tube placement is not done in the operating room
  • You are not pregnant
  • This is not for a head injury, severe seizure status (status epilepticus), or primary brain problem
