Who can take part

  • You or your family member has a traumatic brain injury (closed type, not an open wound).
  • You have been in the intensive care unit (ICU) on a breathing machine for more than 24 hours.
  • You are between 18 and 65 years old.
  • Your doctor has determined you are ready to try breathing on your own.
  • Your vital signs (blood pressure, heart rate) are stable.
