Who can take part
- You are age 18 or older (COPD group) or age 18–30 or 45–70 (non-COPD group).
- If you have COPD, you must have been diagnosed with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD).
- If you don’t have COPD, you should not have COPD and fit one of the non-COPD age ranges (18–30 or 45–70).
- In the last month, you should NOT have taken certain medicines such as antibiotics, strong steroid tablets/injections, or medicines that weaken the immune system.
- You should not be pregnant or breastfeeding, and you should be able to freely agree or refuse the study.
- You should not have long-term lung infections/conditions like bronchiectasis (airway widening) or cystic fibrosis.
