- You have a history of smoking more than 20 pack-years
- Your breathing test shows airflow blockage (FEV1/FVC below 70)
- Your breathing test shows early COPD severity (FEV1 above 50% predicted)
- You are not pregnant and can provide informed consent
- You have not taken antibiotics in the last 2 months
