Who can take part
- You are an adult (adult surgery) and will have elective dental or jaw (maxillofacial) surgery requiring nasal intubation through the nose.
- Your overall health is in ASA class I to III (generally healthy to moderately ill).
- You do not have a bleeding problem (a coagulopathy).
- You do not have an abnormality of the upper airway (your throat/nose passage).
- You are not at high risk of choking/food or stomach contents going into your airway (aspiration risk).
- You (or the legal decision-maker) are willing to participate and have not refused the study.
