Collect tumor samples to guide early breast cancer recurrence care

Breast Cancer Recurrent

This Phase 2 study tests a “precision” approach using tumor sample testing to help predict, prevent, and treat early metastatic recurrence in triple-negative or hormone-receptor–low, HER2-negative breast cancer. If you qualify, you’ll be asked to provide tumor tissue before (or in place of) standard chemotherapy, so researchers can learn which tumor features matter most.

Who can take part

  • You’re age 18 or older, and your breast cancer is Stage I–III (not Stage IV/metastatic).
  • Your tumor must be triple-negative or hormone-receptor–low and HER2-negative based on lab testing (ER/PR/HER2 results from your pathology).
  • You have not had any prior treatment for your current breast cancer (no chemo, radiation, or hormone therapy for it).
  • Your primary tumor or lymph node metastasis is at least 1.5 cm (inflammatory breast cancer can qualify even if smaller).
  • You can safely provide baseline tumor tissue—your doctors can access the tumor/lymph node with a procedure that’s not too risky for you.
  • You have about a year or more to live (your oncologist’s estimate) and your overall health score is ECOG 0–2.
