Arginine metabolism study in teens with type 2 diabetes

Who can take part

  • Be age 12–20 if you are a girl, or age 14–20 if you are a boy, and have reached a late pubertal stage (post-menarchal for girls; Tanner stage 5 for boys)
  • If you have type 2 diabetes: you must have a confirmed type 2 diabetes diagnosis
  • Your diabetes should have started between 3 months and 10 years ago
  • Your diabetes should not be poorly controlled (HbA1c must be 7.5% or less)
  • Do not have a past history of diabetic ketoacidosis (DKA)
  • You must have normal kidney function (eGFR 90 or higher), and no major hormone or liver or thyroid problems
