Who can take part
- You’re between 18 and 90 years old
- You have worsening heart failure with weak pumping (left ventricular ejection fraction of 40% or less on an ultrasound) measured within 24 hours
- You have cardiogenic shock, shown by a blood lactate level of at least 2.1 and at least two signs within 24 hours (such as very low blood pressure, needing strong heart/blood-boosting medicines, needing an IABP device, or major lung/body fluid congestion)
- Your diagnosis of cardiogenic shock started within the last 24 hours at the study site
- A clinician can place the pulmonary artery catheter, and you (or your legal representative) can give consent
