Who can take part

  • You are having a heart attack and your heart is not pumping strongly enough (cardiogenic shock).
  • You are planned to have immediate treatment to unblock your artery (angiography and revascularization).
  • Your blood pressure is low (below 100) or you need medication to keep it above 90.
  • A blood test shows high lactate (above 2.0), which means your body isn't getting enough oxygen.
  • An ultrasound of your heart shows weak pumping (ejection fraction below 40%) or another sign of poor blood flow.
  • You must be 18 to 80 years old, and your shock must have started within the last 12 hours.
