Who can take part
- You must be 18 or older and currently admitted to the ICU
- You need a procedure that requires general anesthesia or sedation
- You already have a breathing tube (cuffed endotracheal tube or cuffed tracheostomy tube) in place
- You should not have a known stomach/upper GI anatomy problem that blocks accurate ultrasound estimates
- You should not have a stomach perforation (a hole in the stomach)
- You should not be pregnant beyond the first trimester
