Who can take part

  • You are an adult age 18 or older needing an emergency breathing tube placed right away (intubation) as judged by the emergency doctor before hospital arrival.
  • Your emergency could be from many causes like severe trouble breathing, coma, overdose, or shock—but not from cardiac arrest.
  • The study medicine plan can’t be used if you have known allergies or medical reasons that prevent using succinylcholine and/or rocuronium and/or sugammadex.
  • You must be able to receive mask ventilation as a backup before the tube is placed (for example, you should not have ongoing vomiting, vomit blood, or blood being coughed up).
  • You must be covered under a medical aid scheme (you are a beneficiary or main member).
  • You should not be pregnant/breastfeeding, and you should not be under special legal protection (like guardianship/curatorship or deprivation of liberty).
