Who can take part

  • You are between 18 and 80 years old.
  • You need a breathing tube placed while under general anesthesia.
  • You are at increased risk of stomach contents getting into your lungs (e.g., due to recent eating, vomiting, acid reflux, or certain surgeries).
  • You do not have any condition that makes it impossible to place the breathing tube.
  • You are not allergic to ketamine, propofol, or similar drugs, and have no history of certain muscle or blood disorders.
