Who can take part

  • You have a confirmed grade 4 glioma (or related grade 4 astrocytoma) and your doctors plan surgery to remove tumor tissue.
  • You are at least 18 years old and can take whole tablets by mouth.
  • You have enough “body reserves” for treatment (blood counts and liver/kidney tests are within required limits).
  • Your thyroid tests must be normal, and you have no history of hyperthyroidism or hypothyroidism.
  • You must not have taken methimazole for this glioblastoma before.
  • If you can get pregnant, you must have a negative pregnancy test and use effective birth control; you also cannot be pregnant or breastfeeding.
