Who can take part

  • You have Parkinson’s disease on both sides of the brain, caused by “idiopathic” Parkinson’s (not another reason).
  • Your Parkinson’s symptoms have been present for more than 4 years, and you still respond to L-dopa (medicine for Parkinson’s), unless tremor is the main issue.
  • Your walking/movement score is above a certain level on a Parkinson’s scale during “MED-ON” (when your usual medicine is working).
  • Your tremor is a major problem and your current Parkinson’s treatments must stay stable during the study.
  • You can have surgery with general anesthesia and two-sided deep brain electrode placement (they’ll check if you’re a candidate).
  • You can do long follow-up for about 30 months and attend regular study visits, including using the device remote/charging system (with help if needed).
