- You have idiopathic Parkinson’s disease (not caused by another condition).
- You have advanced symptoms and are scheduled for deep brain stimulation surgery.
- Your symptoms either improve meaningfully with levodopa (L-dopa) or you have tremor that does not respond enough to medication.
- Your Parkinson’s symptoms continue to be disabling even with best medical treatment.
- Your brain MRI before surgery shows no certain scar-like or vessel problems (like adhesions or major vascular issues).
- You can stay awake and cooperate during the procedure for up to 40 minutes.
