Who can take part

  • You are 18 to 75 years old when you sign consent
  • Your overall health is good enough for treatment (doctor-rated “ECOG 0–1”)
  • Your scan shows a pelvic recurrence of rectal cancer with at least one measurable tumor, and limited spread (no more than 5 distant lesions in up to 3 organs)
  • You have not had radiation to the pelvic area within the last 6 months
  • Your blood counts and organ tests (bone marrow, liver, kidneys, and clotting) are adequate based on labs from within 7 days before treatment
  • Your doctor believes you can live at least 24 weeks
