Who can take part

  • You are between 18 and 75 years old
  • You have been diagnosed with rectal adenocarcinoma (a common type of rectal cancer)
  • Your tumor was within about 2.8 inches (7 cm) of the anal opening
  • After a local excision (removing just the tumor, not the whole rectum), your cancer was found to be at stage pT1 or pT2 with certain high-risk features like positive margins, deep invasion, or poor differentiation
  • You have refused or are not a candidate for radical surgery (removing the whole rectum)
  • Your cancer has not spread to other parts of the body, and your overall health is good (KPS score of 70 or higher)
  • You have not had prior cancer treatment or immunotherapy, and your tumor has a stable microsatellite pattern (MSS/pMMR)
