This study tests whether teaching special standing/balance movements can reduce fainting episodes in children who have recurring vasovagal fainting or certain forms of POTS. It may help your child feel more stable when standing and improve symptoms, while researchers measure balance and “counterpressure” responses during the tests.

Who can take part
- Be 6 to 18 years old and speak English well enough for the study
- Have recurrent fainting in the last year: at least two episodes with loss of consciousness or nearly fainting
- Have a fainting cause thought to be vasovagal or POTS, confirmed by a children’s heart doctor
- Not have certain medical problems that can mimic fainting (for example abnormal heart rhythm, major heart structure problems, or seizures/epilepsy that are new or returning)
- Not take medications that affect heart rate or blood pressure (including common fainting/POTS medicines like fludrocortisone, beta-blockers, midodrine, or slow-release salt)
