Tested nerve ablation plus brain scans for ongoing back pain

Who can take part

  • Be 18 years or older
  • Have moderate to severe low back pain for at least 1 year (average pain about 4/10 or higher)
  • Have pain that seems mostly nerve/signals from pain sources (not nerve pain of another primary cause)
  • Your pain should be stable on your current pain medicines (no recent major changes)
  • You must have had a diagnostic nerve block (MBB) that gave at least 80% pain relief for 3 hours using a small amount of anesthetic
  • Be able to lie still and safely do an MRI scan, and understand the study in English
