Who can take part

  • You are older than 18 years.
  • You have CLL or SLL, or a CLL-like blood condition called MBL.
  • You have active AIHA (immune anemia), meaning low hemoglobin plus lab signs of red blood cell breakdown, and a positive DAT test (a blood test showing antibody/complement on red cells).
  • Your AIHA has returned after steroid treatment, or your anemia did not respond to steroids within about 3 weeks, or you need ongoing steroids at more than 10 mg per day to keep control.
  • You cannot currently be taking any CLL/SLL- or AIHA-targeting treatment other than corticosteroids (steroids).
  • You have not taken ibrutinib before for CLL treatment, and you are able to take ibrutinib (no serious liver impairment, no allergy, and you are not on warfarin or other vitamin K pills).
