Transplanting kidneys with small tumors after removing the tumor

This trial tests a new way to transplant a kidney that has a small tumor. The tumor is removed from the kidney outside the body, and then the healthy remaining kidney is transplanted into a person with kidney failure. Who can take part

  • You must be an adult 50 years or older with a small kidney tumor (4 cm or smaller) that is still inside the kidney and willing to donate your kidney for transplant.
  • You must have normal kidney function (eGFR over 80) and no protein in your urine.
  • The recipient must be 60 or older with end-stage kidney disease and no other potential living donor.
  • The recipient cannot have conditions that make transplant too risky, like active infection, cancer (except minor skin cancer), or a life expectancy less than 5 years.
  • Both donor and recipient must be willing to undergo a full medical and social evaluation at the transplant center.
