This study tests whether extra help and guidance to walk while you’re in the hospital can improve health and recovery. It’s for older adults who can safely do some walking after being admitted for a medical problem.

- You must be at least 65 years old
- You must be admitted to a general medical (not surgical) hospital unit
- A staff walking/walking-readiness score (“6-Clicks”) must be between 16 and 23
- You must have traditional Medicare or Medicare Advantage insurance
- You must be able to participate in walking soon after admission
