Who can take part
- Live in the community (not in a nursing home or similar facility)
- Have a body mass index (BMI) over 25, or over 25–30 with an added risk factor
- Have a recent routine dental check (at least annual care)
- Have low bone mass on a bone scan (T-score between -1.1 and -2.5 in key areas)
- Plan to attend study visits and be willing to be randomly assigned to a study group
- Must not have certain recent or planned dental work, major mobility limits, or recent major fractures/surgeries
