Early brain tests in babies at language risk

This study looks for early brain signals that may predict future language difficulties in very young children. It compares babies with a family history of language problems to babies without, using safe testing to see what markers show up early.

Who can take part

  • Your baby is younger than 24 months
  • Both parents are native Italian speakers
  • Your baby was born at or after 37 weeks gestation and weighed at least 2,500 grams
  • Your baby’s Apgar score was 7 or higher at 1 minute and 5 minutes after birth
  • If you know it, your baby’s Bayley “cognitive” score is 7 or higher
  • No close family member (first-degree relative) has an official diagnosis of autism, intellectual disability, attention-deficit disorder, or major sensory/neurologic disorders
