  • You are an adult (18 or older)
  • Your surgery is elective (planned, not an emergency)
  • You will have general anesthesia (you are fully asleep for the procedure)
  • Your surgery is not done as an outpatient (you are not sent home the same day)
  • After surgery, you are not admitted to the intensive care unit (ICU)
