Who can take part

  • You must be 18 years or older.
  • You are scheduled for surgery on the chest or lungs where one lung will be deflated during the operation.
  • You are not having heart surgery.
  • You are not pregnant.
  • You do not have a serious infection, a psychiatric condition, uncontrolled thyroid, kidney, or liver disease, or a bleeding disorder.
