Who can take part

  • You are at least 18 years old
  • You are scheduled for elective (planned) chest surgery that requires a special double-lumen breathing tube
  • You weigh at least 40 kg (88 lbs)
  • You do not have severe lung disease (advanced COPD, lung scarring, severe emphysema, or uncontrolled asthma)
  • You do not have severe heart disease or heart failure
  • You are able to give written informed consent
