Who can take part

  • You must be having a liver biopsy to find out what is causing your liver problem.
  • You must give your permission (informed consent) to join the study.
  • Your liver disease must be one that doctors consider needing further testing.
  • You cannot be taking medications that suppress your immune system (like steroids or other immunosuppressants) right now or right before the biopsy.
  • You cannot already have a known liver disease diagnosis (like fatty liver or hepatitis B or D) — the biopsy must be for a new or unclear liver problem.
