Who can take part

  • Be age 8 or older
  • Have type 1 hyperlipoproteinemia confirmed by genetic testing (or, if not genetically confirmed, still meet the triglyceride level requirement)
  • At the end of an 8-week “run-in” period, have fasting triglycerides of at least 750 mg/dL
  • If you have diabetes, it must be well controlled (A1c under 8%)
  • Agree to avoid orlistat for 2 months before starting, and use pregnancy prevention if you can become pregnant (or prevent pregnancy if you’re a male partner)
