  • You are an adult (18 years or older)
  • Your planned heart surgery uses a heart-lung machine (cardiopulmonary bypass)
  • Your surgery is a first-time (not a redo/repeat) surgery
  • Your surgery is scheduled (not emergency/urgent)
  • Your planned surgery is not for an aortic root repair
  • Your case is not due to endocarditis, aortic dissection, or heart transplant
