Who can take part

  • You are scheduled for heart surgery that uses a heart-lung machine, such as bypass surgery or valve repair.
  • You are 18 years or older.
  • You have a higher risk of kidney injury based on factors like low hemoglobin, high creatinine, age over 70, heart failure symptoms, or a body mass index over 30.
  • You do not need dialysis or have had acute kidney injury in the last month.
  • You do not have severe, untreated high blood pressure or severe lung-related high blood pressure with heart strain.

Angiotensin II for low blood pressure after heart surgery

This trial tests a medication called angiotensin II (brand name Giapreza) to see if it can raise blood pressure in people who have dangerously low blood pressure after heart surgery.
