Perioperative Patient Safety

This trial tests whether using an in-the-operating-room learning/documentation tool (ClassIntra®) can improve care and outcomes for patients during surgery. You may be invited if you’re having certain inpatient operations with anesthesia involvement.

Operating room computer tool to reduce blood vessel procedure errors

This trial tests a new “black box” monitoring system in the operating room to spot mistakes and help prevent them during planned blood vessel procedures. It may improve safety by learning from real procedure events and error patterns.

Study of complications and long-term outcomes after major surgery

This study follows people after planned, higher-risk surgery to learn what complications happen and how patients do long-term. It may help doctors predict risks and improve care for people having similar operations.

Testing a pre-surgery assessment clinic for adult elective surgery

This trial evaluates whether a pre-surgery assessment clinic helps patients having planned (non-emergency) intestinal surgery. It focuses on adults who go through specific recovery planning and are assessed by anesthesia staff before surgery.

NCT05440331Recruiting
Study of safer handoffs during major surgery in operating rooms

This trial looks at how well information is passed (a “handoff”) between anesthesia team members during major surgery. The goal is to improve safety by reducing preventable mistakes around the time patients move from one caregiver to another.

Microscope study for abdominal surgery patients

This study observes safety and outcomes in adult patients who had abdominal surgery, whether planned or emergency. It aims to improve how surgeries are done by studying different techniques.
