Who can take part

  • You are assigned female and are between ages 12 and 35
  • You have PCOS with infrequent or absent periods (or no periods after starting menstruation) and blood or physical signs of high androgen levels
  • You have low activity (less than 2 hours per week of moderate exercise)
  • Your weight fits the study ranges for your age, and your weight has stayed within about 5 kg for the last 3 months
  • You can use reliable non-hormonal birth control during the study (like a copper IUD) and avoid pregnancy
  • You cannot have certain health problems or medicines that affect insulin, thyroid, or the stomach/intestines (details below)
