This trial studies ways to prevent worsening vision caused by radiation damage to the retina after plaque brachytherapy for uveal melanoma. You may be randomly assigned to a medication injection, a steroid implant, or observation to see which approach best protects vision.

Who can take part
- You have primary uveal melanoma (not iris melanoma) and are getting plaque brachytherapy first treatment
- Your vision loss is not from another unrelated eye problem
- Your starting vision is at least 20/200 (about 34 letters or better)
- The tumor is not centered under the macula (fovea) and not touching the optic disc
- Your planned radiation dose to the macula is at least 30 Gy
- You can complete fluorescein angiography testing (a dye-based eye scan)
