Who can take part
- You must be 18 or older and able to sign consent
- You have IBD (Crohn’s disease, ulcerative colitis, or indeterminate colitis)
- Your IBD symptoms must be inactive or mild (low symptom scores)
- You are coming for an outpatient clinic visit or colonoscopy for any reason
- You must be able and willing to swallow xylitol capsules
- You must not have had colectomy, an ostomy, a J-pouch, or prior colon surgery (appendix surgery is okay)
